ADvertising your business has just become a lot harder?

How does a graphic design company get its message out to potential clients?

As traditional media is dying we are relying more and more on online search results to gain traction in the market. And, if we have to rely on one search engine then clearly Google is the answer.

I think that due to this climb in the popularity in Google and the absolute power it has with the search, companies are constantly looking at ways to get to page 1 on Google.

Once there it is a euphoric feeling. You know that people are viewing your url and that the potential for a new client has now improved. But, if your listing is suddenly taken away, there is a sense of panic and a sick in the stomach, feeling that you are loosing business. This is uncontrollable to some extent and now businesses are constantly on alert and in a state of semi-panic waiting for their listing to drop off the first page of Google.

There is no real way around this and you have to now accept this as part of life and part of doing business.

To ignore Google is to ignore a whole world of potential new business but to embrace Google and its potential means a whole set of new risks and worries for the business owner.

Sometimes I long for the old days where advertising was easy and all you had to do was pop an ad in the directory. Now youve got to employ teams of people and experts to manage trends and online SEO constantly.

Only time will tell where we end up, but it is certainly becoming more complicated and much more involved.

After checking the traffic to my site, I discovered I was getting 45+ visits a day from Google, and around 3 from Bing and Yahoo combined.

People go to Google first before hitting yellow pages or anything else, so at least considering how to build your site for search engines like Google is pretty much a necessity these days.

Ignoring it will just leave you in the dust as others who embrace it pick up all the client leads and get the work that is on offer.
